Life can throw up some very unexpected events. Even if you think everything is fine and dandy, the unforeseen is sometimes just around the corner. That’s not to say you need to walk around in a constant state of fear; it’s more about being prepared and ready for anything. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst – as they say. Here are some tips to ensure you stay cool, calm and collected under pressure.

Turn pennies into pounds.

As hard as it can be to be sensible with money, there’s something incredibly comforting about having a little more money that you need in the bank. It doesn’t have to be a bottomless pit but the reassurance of having an account with money in it should something unexpected arises. If you can set aside just a small portion of your salary every week, you’ll give yourself an enormous sense of satisfaction.

Stay connected to your friends

Friendship is ultimately a two-way street and life can get busy. However, when things go wrong, a friendship can feel like a ray of sunshine on a rainy day.Invest in your friendships spend time with friends. Do this all year around, and you’ll always feel safe. Even if you have a partner and children, there’s nothing quite like laughing with a girl pal. A good friendship should always be reciprocated.

Learn about the best in your area

Now, nobody wants to have to worry about things like accountants and lawyers but sometimes it’s necessary. Having a good family lawyer on hand like Barton Wood, can be immensely reassuring. Being able to contact somebody you know and trust with your business will ultimately give you confidence. Seek out the advice and recommendations from your friends and set up meetings while everything is still calm. You won’t regret having these people on speed dial when something tricky pops up.

Stay positive

This is such a cliche but it’s important to remain in a positive frame of mind should something bad happen. Of course, if a family member falls sick or you are made redundant it can be shocking but by staying positive you’ll be able to stay in control. A calm mind is vital. When a crisis is occurring, remember to eat healthily, meditate and look after yourself. If you don’t look after yourself then you certainly won’t be able to make anyone else feel better.

Maintain a routine

When you’re in the midst of drama is super easy to become engulfed with the bad stuff. It’s easy to be dragged down and all consumed by things you have no control over. Stay present, stay in the moment and count your blessings. Even when things aren’t going as planned it’s important for your peace of mind to keep to as much of a routine as possible. Even on your worst day, get out of bed and jump in the shower. It’s incredible how good a simple shower can make you feel! Try not to miss too many days from work or school and maintain contact with close friends and family members. The worst thing you can do is to isolate yourself.
