How to promote inner beauty? In this society, the concept of beauty is changing but we still see images of Caucasians being glorified while those of African descent well…while improving not so much. I got the opportunity to review the Princess Nails Spa.
It’s important to me that my daughter loves herself from the inside out that starts at an early age. I want her to feel confident in the skin she is in to embrace not just her own but also the uniqueness of other people as well to never put anyone down. On my quest to help my daughter love herself from the inside out I found this article by Bronx Mama.
This is unlike your usual spa its for girls to get jazzed up treated like the princesses that they are.
I got the opportunity to sit down and talk with the owner of Princess Nails Spa Milagros Lopez read the interview below:
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Milagros Lopez I am from the Dominican Republic. I was always a girly girl all of my clothes had to match and that’s where my idea came from to start this boutique. I received my Associates degree in business from Fashion Institute of Technology. I am the co-founder of a non-profit called Isabel’s Empowering Queens which teaches girls about empowerment. I also speak at different schools about self-love.
What is the mission behind Princess Spa Nails?
The mission of my company is to promote self-love at an early age through the princess concept because being a princess is magical to show that children can love themselves through getting their nails done, getting pampered, getting a facial and say I’m so beautiful.
When did you open up your shop?
I have been in business for three years.
What are some of your services?
Our services include parties, I host princess parties that range in age 3-12 and 12-15 I host teen fashion parties. Then we have out day services where people can come in for a mommy and me or princess for a day or to get their nails done by appointment only. I also plan on having mom workshops teaching moms how to manage family and work.
What inspired you to create a spa in the Bronx?
The Bronx is like the forgotten borough so we have limited resources especially for children so having something for them was very important to have my spa here where I was raised in the Bronx.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to open their own business?
I would say put a plan together. I took a book and mapped out my business plan starting from now to ten years later. Also, if you have done your research and you know how much its going to cost my suggestion is to save your money, build up your credit if you need to take out a loan.
If you are in the Bronx make an appointment with or for your daughter. Her and her staff will make you feel welcome.
