When it comes to improving our health we all need a hand from time to time. It can be difficult to know where to start, and the task can seem overwhelming. Why not begin by implementing these three simple to do and easy to follow tips. They’re a great starting point on your healthy living journey…
Eating Healthy Food
Cutting down on the amount of unhealthy food we eat can be difficult. This problem is made worse by the amount of conflicting dietary advice out there. Surely it’s okay to have cakes and chocolate in our cupboards if we’re allowed to eat them once in a while? Well if you’re new to healthy eating it’s best to start off with a cupboard cleanse.
Part of eating healthier is about removing temptation, at least to being with. Try clearing out your cupboards and replacing junk food with healthy, fresh food. Shop at farmers markets and always by food in its most natural state, think fruit and vegetables. Make all sauces from scratch at home too. Once you’ve got into the habit of eating healthily for two to three weeks incorporate some treats back into your cupboards. Hopefully, by this stage, you won’t be as tempted and can enjoy them in moderation.
Ditching Bad Habits
We all have a few bad habits which are making it difficult for us to reach our fitness potential. Whether it’s indulging in too many drinks on the weekend, having the odd cigarette, or skipping breakfast. These bad habits can seriously impact our health.
If you find yourself skipping breakfast there are some simple things you can do to change that. Start by thinking of some more interesting breakfast meals. Don’t just reach for cereal and milk. Instead experiment with baked eggs, avocado on toast, or porridge. Porridge is a great go-to breakfast. It keeps us fuller for longer plus it’s easy to make in the morning. You can top it with compote, fresh fruit, or even just a drizzle of honey.
If you want to cut down on the amount you smoke or drink, do it slowly. There are some eliquid suppliers which provide e-cigarettes. These are widely believed to be a healthier alternative to smoking. You can use these as an aid to quit. There are also special gums and patches to help smokers quit too.
Taking Care Of Yourself
Being healthy is about taking care of your overall wellness. That can’t be achieved by cutting out bad habits and bad food alone. Make sure you take some time to relax and rejuvenate each day. This could be by indulging in a hobby, meditating, praying, or even having a bath! Just have some much needed me time.
