Everything You Need For The Perfect Family Camping Trip

The perfect family camping trip can be a hard thing to plan, so you need to take your time to ensure that it is perfect. You are going to need to create a checklist of everything you need so that you don’t forget anything when it comes time to go. If you don’t know what to put on your list and you are currently stressing out, take a deep breath and calm down because we have already come up with one for you. Below, you are going to find everything that you need for the perfect family camping trip.

    A Good Tent

    Image Link

The first thing that you are going to need is a good tent. You’ve got two options when it comes to buying one of these. You can either get one that fits your entire family inside, or you can get multiple little ones for everyone to sleep in. Either way, you need to ensure that you are getting tents that are made out of high-quality material so that you know they are going to hold up against any weather. There are a lot of stores that offer tents, and it is your job to make sure that you do your research and come back with the best tent in your price range.

If you shop around for long enough, you are going to be amazed at some of the deals that you can find. Also, if you think that your family would benefit from being all in one tent, make sure that you leave enough room, and don’t try to squeeze people in where they don’t fit. You can find some information on the best tents available at

    Enough Food

The next thing that you need to do is make sure that you have enough food for the duration of your trip. You aren’t going to get very far if you don’t have food for everyone. The best foods to bring on camping trips are things in tins like beans that can be eaten hot or cold, but are also easy to heat if necessary. Items that don’t need to be kept in certain conditions are going to be good here, so it will be no use bringing something that has to stay in a fridge. Unless of course you are going to be bringing a cool box with you, but this will only be able to do so much for so long.

Ensure that you have something that everyone likes, and you are going to be good to go. Likewise not bringing anything that needs to be kept refrigerated, you also don’t want to be bringing anything that is difficult to cook. For example, you are not going to be roasting a chicken when you go camping, so this would be a waste of space.

    Emergency Supplies

You definitely need, if nothing else, all the emergency supplies. A first aid kit, back up food, water and things like this are essential when you are heading off on a camping trip. If you go to a site such as you are going to find all the information on emergency essentials that you can need, and some tips on how to make them last. Without these, you could leave yourself in a very vulnerable position, and we would strongly advise against this.

    Warm Clothing

    Credit Source

Warm clothing is an obvious one, but you would be surprised at how many forget about this when it comes to packing. Sweaters, hats, scarves, boots, layers are all going to be important when you go camping. You need to have clothes for every occasion. You never know if it is going to be hot or cold, wet or dry and so on. As such, you need to have everything in your bag. Even though the goal is to travel as light as possible, there is always going to be room for a change of clothes if the weather takes a turn in an unexpected direction.

Make sure that you have checked your kid’s packs for this as well, as you don’t want to get out there to hear the words ‘I’m cold and I don’t have my coat’. Write your family a list of things that they need to pack and include hats, gloves, warm trousers, t-shirts, sweaters and everything else that you can think of to keep them warm and safe when you are camping.

    Cooking Equipment

Unless you are planning on eating cold beans from a tin the entire trip, you need to get come cooking equipment specifically for camping. This is not going to be hard to find and you can get them on a site like without breaking the bank. This is going to mean that you can heat up food and enjoy meals with your family around the campfire. You are going to find this very useful to get you and your family a hot meal when the weather is freezing you from the inside out.

    High Quality Sleeping Bag

    Image Location Link

The last thing that is on the essential list is a high quality sleeping bag. The last thing that you are going to want is for everyone to be cold through the night. You need to do your research and find each member of your family a sleeping bag with a cosy inside, and that is well insulated. This way, no matter what the weather is like outside, your family is going to be toasty warm inside the sleeping bags, and their tent. This is important as it will stop anyone from getting sick while you are on your vacation. Staying warm is one of the most important parts of camping, so this is one of the most vital things that you need to get from this list.

Everything that we have mentioned is important for something on your camping adventure, but there are some that are more important than others. We have made it clear in this article what they are, and we hope that you have a happy camping trip with the people that you love.

Enjoying The Holidays With NYC Ferry

I don’t know about you but I am happy to be on winter break. My kids are also happy about it as well. As a kid I remember going down to Rockefeller Center to look at the tree and I wanted my children to be able to have a wonderful experience as a family. As I think about our mode of transportation I didn’t want to drive and I didn’t want to deal with crowds so what better way than to get downtown without the hustle and bustle than with the NYC Ferry.

The Soundview Ferry leaving from the Bronx hits four stops 90th street, E.34th street, and Wall Street. We decided to go visit Wall Street to see the 9/11 Memorial and the Oculus. Would you believe it was my first time too?

The NYC Ferry made it easy to get into town and explore for the holidays. Wall Street has their own Christmas tree as well as on Pier 17 there is a rooftop ice skating rink which we didn’t go to.

As always the looking at the water while on the boar is a peaceful sight to see even in the winter months. The kids had fun on their adventure.

To make an adventure of your own visit to find out schedule and purchase tickets online download the NYC ferry app.

Cost: $2.75 per person and kids shorter than 44′ ride free.

What I love about Hershey Park is that they have something for everyone. Our kids are 5 and 7 there was more than enough kid rides for them to enjoy.

Why Mazda CX-9 Is The Perfect Family Car

“Thanks for Mazda I was provided the new 2018 Mazda CX-9 to test drive for a week. All opinions expressed here are my own”

Recently, we took a trip on a well needed vacation to Hershey, Pennsylvania. We wanted to go somewhere that was just a drive away so we decided to go to Hershey Park. We got the opportunity to ride in style with the 2018 CX-9 Mazda Touring.

Why Mazda CX-9 Is The Perfect Family Car

The first thing you notice about the car is the color (the soul red crystal is the best). We got complimented on this car everywhere we went.

The interior will appeal to your senses the model we had the seats were beige (sand)and the trim was black it was just the right touch of elegance. The interior is also unique in that the rotary center console is high (feels different at first) but you come to appreciate its uniqueness. The navigation was at the top of the dashboard my husband says its easier to stay focused on the road.

We took full advantage of the BOSE speakers listening to our favorite tunes. Immediately, my 7 and 5 year old loved the built in charger port is the middle console. While we didn’t use the third row it was great to have and you wouldn’t believe how comfortable they are (yes soft) and you don’t feel cramped.

    Space & Storage

This model is a 7 passenger which is great for a large family. With two carseats in the second row I was there was still space for a person to sit in the middle of them. The truck space is very spacious being able to hold all of our luggage.

When you have a family you want to ensure your child’s safety. Mazda does a great job of ensuring safety on the road. They have 24 hour roadside assistance, Latch child safety seat anchors, dynamic stability control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, rear parking sensors just to name a few.

    Fuel Economy

The Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring has an average 23 mpg. The annual fuel cost is estimated at 1,550 and the city average is 20 with 26 mpg being the average for a highway. We drove from New York to Hershey Pennsylvania and didn’t need to fuel up until the next day in the afternoon.

    Final Verdict

If you are looking for a car that will make the entire family happy look no further than the Mazda CX-9. My brother-n-law loved the car so much that he brought it the following week. I don’t drive but I do believe my first car will be a Mazda.

    Price: 43,903

How To Keep You Family Safe On A Road Trip

Are you thinking of an affordable and fun vacation idea for your family? Taking a family on holiday costs loads of money, so why don’t you think about a road trip instead? It’s a great way of seeing loads of places you’ve never been to and spending quality time together.

If you like the sound of this, then let me give you some much-needed advice to ensure your family remains safe the whole time:

    Don’t Drive Like A Maniac

One of the main parts of a road trip is the driving around. As a result, you’ll be on highways for hours, and there’s always the temptation to let loose and drive as fast as can be. Well, I have a piece of advice for you; don’t. Don’t drive like a lunatic, and remember you have your kids in the back with you. Also, try and avoid getting stuck behind trucks or lorries as much as you can. Sometimes an accident may not be your fault. But it is important to keep yourself protected at all costs. Whether you are driving a van affordable van insurance may be the best route for you to go down if you want to keep you and your family safe on your trip. Insurance is essential for any vehicle you drive.
    There’s so much information
online at Abels & Ames that explains this idea of blind spot accidents. Basically, these happen when you get behind a truck and enter its blind spot. The driver can’t see you, which puts you at risk. So, if you can avoid getting stuck behind them, then do! Or, keep a clear distance, so they always see you.

    Sleep In Secure Locations

When you go on a road trip, it means you will stay in so many different places. Perhaps you bring tents and stay on a campsite? Or maybe you have a caravan and can stay in a caravan park? Some people will even book B&B’s for a few days in different places; it’s up to you. All I’ll say is that you need to do your research beforehand and ensure you only stay in secure locations. Campsites with loads of positive reviews are a secure place to stay. The same goes for B&B’s, motels; wherever you want to go. What I don’t recommend is just pulling up in a parking lot somewhere and sleeping in the car; that’s not safe at all!

    Plan Your Route

One of the most common problems on road trips is getting lost. Needless to say, your family doesn’t want to end up in the middle of nowhere without a clue where to go or what to do. So, to keep everyone safe – and ensure this never happens – you should plan your route before you set off. Have a clear map of where you want to go and what roads you need to take. This will help you stay on the right track and avoid driving aimlessly until you get lost. Also, on that note, make sure you bring a proper updated paper map too – just in case you end up without any phone signal.

These three pieces of advice will help your family stay safe on your road trip. Once you get the safety issues out the way, you can start to appreciate how amazing this vacation idea is. You don’t need to fly away somewhere exotic to have a great time with your family!
