    Faith Unites Us All

    Image

It’s very easy to feel lost and alone during our time on this sphere that’s floating through space. However, with faith in your heart, you’ll never feel truly alone. Not only does it allow us to connect with God, but it also helps us connect with each other.

Religion is blamed as the main source of global conflicts. In reality, though, money is the root of all evil. At a human level, people and communities can be united by their faith or even through the shared ideologies of different faiths. There needn’t be a huge divide by people, even when you follow different practices. After all, the common goal is to live your best life while helping your fellow man.

Faith can bring different meanings to everyone, but letting God into your heart will truly bring light to your life. In many ways, your relationship with God and your faith is a personal journey. Still, you can take great comfort in knowing that millions around the world are on a similar path.

It’s easy to forget that faith is felt by people around the world. But reminding yourself about the importance of faith around the world soon helps you rediscover the spark. Organizations like Iglesia Universal show how faith unites people around the world. Do not be afraid to seek comfort or participation.

Even the faith-centric traditions like Christmas festivities show the impact that faith can have in our lives. Let’s face it; everybody becomes a little nicer at this time of the year, and we become more charitable too. Focusing on those sentiments throughout the year will help you gain a far deeper appreciation of people around you. Moreover, the internal rewards are truly incredible.

Faith certainly brings us closer in those moments of celebration, and showing a gratitude for this is vital. However, faith is perhaps at its most powerful when times are tough. Even those that ignore their faith for 99% of their lives will pray for good health and changing fortunes when things go wrong. In your life, you can seek support from local faith authorities when those situations occur in your life.

Or you can also take great comfort from merely reading the Bible or meditating in a way that connects you to your faith. As a good citizen (religious or not) being there for people in need should be on the agenda too. A little effort goes a long way to restoring a person’s faith, whether that be in God or life in general.

Whether you feel a need to reconnect with God with a trip to the Sistine Chapel, or you merely need to let the light back into your daily life doesn’t matter. Faith is one of the few constants in our lives. And it’s something that can enhance our lives on a personal level as well as in connection with others around the world. While this is a post about faith, I don’t want to bombard you with bible passages. Instead, I’ll leave you with the words of Bono:

“One love. We get to share it. Leaves you baby, if you don’t care for it.”

3 Tips for Keeping Your Spirits up When times Are Tough

    Image via Pixabay

Life is a beautiful thing, filled with adventure, opportunity, and potentially blissful moments with the people we care about most.

But, unfortunately, life isn’t just those positive things. Life also has plenty of hardship, disappointment, turbulence, and stress in store, and no matter how carefully we manage our own lifestyles, it’s inevitable that we will have to find ways to push forward despite being disheartened and facing hardship, from time to time.

A key message to take from the example of the great thinkers and doers of history, however, is that the human spirit has what it takes to surpass those hardships and live well, as long as we keep our focus directed properly.

Here are a few tips for keeping your spirits up when times are tough.

Force yourself to go through the basic motions of taking care of yourself

Often, when times are tough, one of the first things that happens is that people neglect themselves aggressively – in a way that they could never justify doing to a loved one.

If you feel like your plans are falling apart around you, and everything is going wrong, one of the worst things you could do would be to completely give up on taking care of yourself.

If you feel that you’re compelled to throw your hands up in the air, stop cleaning your house, and just collapse into bed with the curtains drawn, it’s very important that you maintain positive momentum in the opposite direction, by forcing you to go through the basic motions of taking care of yourself.

If you have a hearing aid, for example, don’t neglect your hearing aid care routine. If you work from home and could easily spend three days in the same pair of clothes, force yourself to get dressed each morning.

Small lapses in self-care compound and can lead to real personal crises in a short space of time.

Look to a higher force or purpose

When times are tough, it often becomes painfully obvious to us that we are pretty vulnerable in a variety of ways.

One of the most essential keys to moving past these moments of hardship, and doing meaningful things with our lives, all the same, is to look to a higher force or purpose to direct our efforts.

If you’re religious, this would naturally be a deity. If you’re an agnostic, it could be “the universe” or “your ancestors.” If you’re an atheist, it could just be the potential future self that you’re working to do the best for.

Regardless of your beliefs, you could be motivated to look past your own problems in order to do the best for your loved ones.

Work on doing whatever you can each day to move things in a better direction, even if all you can manage are small steps

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” is how a famous quote from Lao Tzu runs, and there’s a very deep message contained in that excerpt.

When times are tough, it’s important not to project your vision too far into the future, and sabotage yourself as a result. Instead, narrow your time horizon, and focus on what you have to achieve this week, this day, or even this hour.

Work on doing whatever you can each day to move things in a better direction, even if all you can manage are small steps. Simply tidying up the house and washing the dishes is a lot better than nothing.

    The Restoration Series: Jonathan’s Walk

    The Restoration Series: Jonathan’s Walk

For years, Jonathan has been in prison. As a result, he has missed milestone moments with his family. He wasn’t there for his daughter’s first day of school or a thousand little experiences with his wife and as a father, he is devastated to be separated from those he loves most.

Jonathan has been looking forward to his release from prison for over a decade. So many life events have been missed and he is now ready to be with his wife and kids again. Of course, this transition isn’t going to be easy. The odds are against him: with over half of prisoners returning to prison within two years, Jonathan is aware of the challenge set before him. ‍Still, he is determined to take the skills he has learned into the world outside of incarceration and stay there, helping build the community that he is part of for years to come.

Prison Fellowship presents The Restoration Series: Jonathan’s Walk, a 5-part documentary film series following one man as he re-enters his community after 15 years in prison. It demonstrates in imagery, powerful storytelling and social interaction what it means to be human and the shared need of all people to see communities restored. Though America is home to only 4% of the world’s population, we house more than 20% of its prisoners. Recidivism–the tendency of a criminal to reoffend—is out of control. The Restoration Series tells the story of men and women who have
experienced The Academy, a revolutionary in-prison program that is combatting incarceration and recidivism head on.

    My thoughts

It’s an eye-opener to only seeing criminals as only bad. We are all human and deserve a second chance. God is the God of second chances. It’s a story of redemption. love and forgiveness. He’s grateful for another chance and I’m glad that through prison fellowship he gets another chance.

3 Things To Do When You Feel Like Your Life Is Stuck In A Rut

Do you feel as if your life is stuck in a rut?

Do you feel like a hamster forever running on an ever-spinning wheel that goes nowhere?

Is every day the same monotonous, boring grind?

In short, are you currently stuck in dullsville?

If so, let’s try to get you out of the rut you are in. There are three things you might want to focus on.

    1. Change your daily routine.

By taking a few small steps, you might be able to improve your mindset. Examples?

    – Get out of bed earlier and read something inspiring in your Bible, go for a scenic walk, and eat a tastier breakfast.

    – Arrange to meet up with those friends you haven’t seen in ages after work.

    – Do something random, such as going to see a movie or play, or take a drive somewhere new.

Make some of these things a constant, and your life won’t seem as boring as it might do at the moment. Do whatever fits in with your life; those small changes to your routine that might lift the way you feel.

    1. Pursue your passions

What excites you? What will give you an added zest for life? What will you find personally rewarding? Think about these things, and then start to put them into practice. Examples?

    – Return to an old hobby and start it up again.

    – Engage in voluntary work, be that helping a charity or improving your church community.

    – Find a new hobby, looking online and at your local community center for ideas.

    – Start a blog, and write about anything that interests you, and communicate with like-minded folks.

Do anything that will give you renewed vigor in your life. When you start to feel excited about life again, you will have moved out of dullsville and into somewhere new, both mentally and physically!

    1. Set yourself larger goals

With larger goals in mind, you will have something to look forward to in the future. So, not only will you be out of your rut in the long-term, you might feel better about yourself in the short-term while you’re in the process of change. Examples?

    – Think about changing your career, perhaps into something more rewarding, perhaps in teaching, charity work, something mission-related, or social work with this MSW school online.

    – Start saving up your money for a holiday, perhaps with your dream destination in mind. Or save up your money for something else to brighten up your life, be that a new car, home renovation, or something else that you have long desired.

And think about other aspects of your future. Where do you want to be? What do you want to do? Don’t procrastinate, but rather take actionable steps to achieve your life’s goals.

    And so…

We all feel as if our lives are stuck in a rut sometimes, but we don’t have to stay there. Today, start to think about what you can do to get yourself off that hamster wheel. Be it through small or large steps, you can do more with your life. It’s up to you, so start the thinking process now to improve your life tomorrow.

    Thanks for reading.

Major Changes That You Could Make to Your Life in 2019!

We’re fast approaching 2019 and many of us are starting to look ahead to the new year. We want to make sure that it is as positive as possible, so it’s not all too surprising that many of us are trying to think up positive resolutions that can impact our life in a beneficial way. Now, generally speaking, people’s resolutions will be small. They might vow to spend a little less time on social media. They might encourage themselves to head to the gym once a week. This is all great! But why not take things a step further and take active steps to making 2019 a truly memorable year for yourself? The turn of a new page could be the perfect opportunity to make some major changes in your life! Here are a few to consider!

    Moving to a New Home

If you absolutely adore your home and it meets all of your needs and requirements, you don’t really need to move. However, this isn’t what holds most of us back. Many of us aren’t completely satisfied with our properties, but we avoid moving, as we want to avoid any unnecessary stress or hassle. Sure, moving home can be a long and arduous experience. You have to deal with estate agents, you have to conduct viewings, you have to arrange the sale of your current property and the purchase of the next. But this really could all be worth it! Moving to a new home gives you an opportunity to find a property that is better tailored to your needs and that can accomodate you more comfortably. Heading on a Dream Vacation

If you’ve always wanted to head to a particular location in the world, this year may be the right time to tick it off your bucket list. Now, you may be thinking you couldn’t possibly afford the vacation of your dreams on a whim. But remember that you have twelve full months ahead of you. This is plenty of time to get your finances into gear and to save for your getaway! Budget, cut non-essential costs, take on extra work… there are so many steps that you can take to edge you closer and closer towards that plane ticket.

Picking Up a New Life Skill

There are certain skills that stick with us for life and that can really benefit us in the long run. So, why not focus on one. Put your spare time to good use rather than scrolling through social media or lounging absent-mindedly in front of the television. Learn to drive. Learn a language. Whatever you choose, dedicate yourself to it and you will see results relatively quickly.

These are just a few positive changes that you could make to your life in the upcoming year. Consider incorporating them into your life!
