Teaching Your Kids About Online Safety

The internet can be a great thing for kids. It can help them to learn and interact, play games and be entertained. But as we all know, there’s a dark side to the internet, and teaching your kids about online safety is important. The sooner you start teaching them to stay safe online, the better, and it will help them both now and in the future.

Take a look at some internet safety tips you can use to help your kids learn about online security and enjoy peace of mind when they spend time online.

    Discuss internet safety early

As soon as your kids start using the internet, whether on a phone or a computer, you should talk to them about how to use their devices safely. Sit down with them as they’re using the computer and explain things like passwords, what’s safe to do and what’s not safe, and help them to practice good habits when they’re online. Talking about internet safety should be an ongoing process, and you can widen the conversation as your kids get older.

    Protect them from the beginning

Putting protective measures in place can help you provide additional protection to your kids, ensuring that they don’t stumble upon anything they shouldn’t accidentally, or even mistakenly download a virus. Family Orbit is a fantastic parental control app that can help you set parameters for your kids, keep an eye on their online activities as well as track their location. It’ll help you feel at ease as they spend time online and helps ensure safer browsing for the whole family. Ensure all of your devices have the right parental controls, and don’t forget to monitor things regularly – the internet changes all the time and it’s important that you stay up to date with what’s going on.

    Limit their time online

Kids spending too much time watching TV used to be a big concern for parents, now the worry has shifted to spending too much time online. By setting rules and boundaries, you can help to keep your kids’ time online to a sensible amount, and make sure that they don’t lose touch with the real world. Encourage them to take up other activities like sports, reading and creative hobbies. Spending time together as a family enjoying travel and days out can help them to realize that there’s more to life than what they see on screen, allowing you to create some great memories together.

Teaching your kids about online safety can help them learn in a way that is safe and gives them confidence, as well as boosting your confidence too. There are plenty of things you can do to empower your kids to be safe online, starting from a young age. Be open and honest and let them ask questions – it’s a good way for them to learn and to satisfy their curiosity. You should also be vigilant about their activity and intervene when something doesn’t sit right. The internet can be an amazing thing, so make sure you teach your kids to use it right.

Don’t Let Your Children See Adult Problems

Your children will be your little angels, or maybe some of your will admit that most of the time you see them as devils, especially on the days where all they seem to do is create a big mess and play up all of the time. But there are certain things that you should be doing to ensure they have the best life possible, and the most sheltered life possible. We get that as they get older you will have to expose them to the realities of life, but even then there are certain adult problems that you should try and keep under wraps for them. They will pick up on it so easily, and it can make them feel all kinds of emotions, even if you don’t realise it. It can affect the way they are at nursery and school, and can even affect the little adult they will one day grow up to be. So, if you have some adult problems going on at the minute, and you know your children are around you most of the time, well, we’re here to help. Here are some of the most common problems you might go through, and how you can ensure your children aren’t exposed to it.

    Marriage Problems

Marriage is a tough life, especially when you bring children into the equation. In fact, some would say that marriage only becomes a problem when children are introduced to it, because all of the things you used to be able to do independently, you now have children by your side. There’s no personal space, and there’s hardly any time to enjoy eachothers company alone, apart from last thing at night where you’re both exhausted and the kids are in bed. So, it’s one of the main reasons why arguments happens, and marriages or even just relationships breakup. In this case, a child support lawyer will make sure that both of you get a good outcome, but most importantly so does your child. But the main objective here is to keep any arguments and discussions away from your child. They will pick up on everything you’re saying, the emotions being relayed, and it will affect their behaviour. The sudden change is already going to do that, so don’t let them see any arguments that might come of it.

    Reckless Behaviors

Adults can be reckless, and you don’t have to have a family for those to go away. When life outside of the family is just so hectic as well, it can be easy to turn to things such as drink to calm your nerves about your chaotic life. But if you are going to have a drink, we urge that it is only a glass or two, and never when it’s just you and your child. It’s so dangerous to be intoxicated around them, especially babies. But they will notice your behaviour change, and they’re much more clever than you think. They will ask to try some of your drink, and you’ll tell them no because it’s your special drink. This can easily be said out loud at nursery or school, and before you know it you have questions being asked to you about your ability to be a parent!

4 Great Health Tips For New Parents

Staying healthy is difficult at the best of times but when you start a family, it’s not just you that you have to think about anymore. A lot of new parents feel like they’re out of their depth when it comes to health matters and they get worried because, naturally, they want to make sure that they’re doing right by their family. But fear not, we’ve put together a great list of health tips for new parents that should steer you in the right direction.

Find The Right Health Care Provider

The first thing that you need to do is pick a health care provider for you and your family, and a lot of parents don’t have a clue where to start. Some health care providers are a lot more focused on family care than others and that’s what you want to be looking for. Providers like Revere Health that specialize in family care. Registering the whole family with the same provider is always a good idea because family history plays a big part in health. If, for example, you or your partner has any hereditary conditions, the doctor needs to know that so they can make reasoned judgments about your child’s health.

    Exercise Together

This is a big one because it’s so hard to get kids excited about exercising these days. Children don’t listen to their parents so much as follow their example. If you tell them that it’s important to stay active if you want to be healthy, they’re not likely to listen. But if you lead by example from a young age, you can get them into good habits from the beginning. Plan family activities like sports or bike rides on a regular basis so you can make exercise a fun, family activity rather than an obligation. They’ll carry that habit on in later life and they’ll be a lot healthier for it.

    Eating Right

Eating right is tough because there are so many foods out there that you didn’t even realize were unhealthy. Cereal is a big one because most people think that it’s healthy but in reality, it’s filled with sugar (there are some great healthy alternatives though). Fruit juice is another one that is packed full of sugar but appears on the surface to be healthy. As a general rule, you should always try to cook things from scratch where you can and double check the labels on anything that you buy so you can be sure that it’s actually healthy.

    Talk About Health

Talking about health is so important but not enough people do it, especially with children. Catching health problems early is so important, otherwise, they’re just going to get worse. But children often don’t mention problems because they don’t think it’s a big deal or they’re embarrassed because it’s an issue in a sensitive area. You need to break those barriers down and have open discussions about health from an early age so they know that they can always come to you if there is a problem.

If you follow these simple tips, you can make sure that your family is happy and healthy for years to come.

    Brick Builders-Illustrated Bible Review

    https://amzn.to/2KVO2Ez

My kids are older now so the baby Bible stories are too short they are now able to grasp Bible stories but they are too young to read King James. With my 7 year old I switch up between devotionals and different Bible and Bible activities. When asked to review Brick Builders I knew my kids would enjoy it with Lego themed pictures I soon discovered my son may be too old but my daughter absolutely loves it. The pictures are vivid making the Bible come to life, filled with 35 Bible stories it introduces the bible in a fun way (what kid doesn’t like Legos)?

    About the book

The Brick Builders Illustrated Bible uses the popularity of brick-building pieces to engage children with more than 35 beloved Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments. Reader will travel from Genesis to Revelation as they read about Creation, Noah’s Ark, David and Goliath, the Birth of Jesus, Jesus Walks on Water, and more. With bold, colorful illustrations by Antony Evans, each story contains a “Building Block” takeaway for kids to help them apply the biblical principal to their own lives.

I recommend this children’s Bible as a starter as it just touches the surface of the Bible stories (i.e doesn’t talk about Adam and Eve’s punishment). This is perfect for my 5 year old who just needs to hear the overview but for my 7 year old I want him to go further into depth in analyzing the Bible. It’s a great Lego theme.
