Wash N Go (Beautiful)
Why I decided to go natural?
I’ve been completely natural since April 29, 2010.  My intention was not to go natural, I wanted to give my hair a break from all the relaxing I had been doing. I had been relaxed since I was 14 years old and I just needed a break.  The intent was to not relax my hair for a couple of months and then take it from there.  I started doing research online about going natural and within 1 month post relaxer I did my big chop.  It felt so liberating and freeing, it was like I was looking at the world with unclouded vision.  It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.  Before I big chopped I did have some anxiety about how others would view me but once I did it, I was like “This is me, take me or leave me”.
My current haircare regimen?
On my 2 year natural anniversary I treated myself to a haircut and flatiron at the Hair Rules Salon in NYC.  Owner and celebrity stylist, Anthony Dickey himself did my hair.  He noticed that my hair was dry and asked me my what my regimen was.  When he found out I was only wetting my hair once a week and using sudsing shampoos he informed me that these practices were the culprit of my dry hair.  Since then I have adopted the curly girl method which means I have eliminated shampoo altogether, I use conditioner or cleansing conditioners to clean my hair.  I have also eliminated silicones, mineral oils, and styling tools from my haircare practices.  Meaning, I don’t use a comb at all on my hair!!!! Wow, that was a struggle at first but I have seen the benefits behind it.  To date, my hair has flourished so much and is growing like a weed.  I co-wash at least 3-4x a week, I try to deep condition 1x a week,  I use leave in conditioner, and my own hair gel that I have formulated and am in the process of producing for retail.  Since being natural, I cannot stand sleeping with anything on my head so I sleep on a satin pillow case and that is it!
About my hair gel

I hate the hair typing system but, for the sake of explaining the benefits of my hair gel I will say that I am for the most part a 4A type.  I have been trying to find the right gel that would define my curls and make them pop.  I had tried everything under the sun, all the popular natural hair products/gels and had some minor to mediocre success.  So one day I decided to do some research to try to make my own.  I ordered some organic herbs and oils online and started to go to work.  I am happy to say that since then, I have been so happy with my results!  I have shiny, spirally, curls that pop allover the place!
My gel is a formulation infused with organic goodness like nettle, horsetail, flaxseed extract, aloe vera, apricot kernel oil, and so many other wonderful ingredients that my hair has thanked me for!  I cannot wait to reveal my gel to the world!
A little bit about me?
I am a full blooded New Yorker to the heart! I have also worked in the fashion industry since 2000 as a Fabric Research & Development Director for luxury and contemporary brands.  So, creativity is just something I cannot avoid, lol.  I love to laugh and make others laugh, and I just enjoy life no matter how daunting it could be at times. My favorite quote is, “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time”- Maya Angelou.  That quote is something I try to live by.  What I take from it is that people are who they are and I cannot change them, I can only change me and how I allow them to affect me.
