National Food Day
How can we go from less processed to more unprocessed foods.
Processed Foods have been altered from their natural state either for safety reasons or for convenience. The methods used include canning, freezing, refrigeration, dehydration and aseptic processing.
Processed foods that may be bad for your diet:
Canned Foods with large amounts of sodium
Pasta meals made from refined white flour
Frozen fish sticks high in sodium
Processed Meats
Replace one of the most processed foods with something healthier. For example, some cereals can have up to 70 residual pesticides lurking inside. Choose oatmeal with simple, whole ingredients (rolled oats, cinnamon, sugar). Creating your own instant oatmeal packs is quite simple and convenient. Homemade granola bars can be made with less sugar/fat and stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
