In conjunction with my own ideas about social media and being a Christian blogger this book came right on time. What would Jesus post? We are in a time where we show our lives through Facebook, twitter, Instagram. Pinterest (I know there are more let us not forget periscope).Every minute we are shown pictures and articles how to keep up with all of this.

[bctt tweet=” How much would you compromise the word of God for a like on Facebook?”]

You hear fellow entrepreneur bloggers tell you to get followers follow the trend figure out what they want but in a quest to figure out a need and solve it for a like on social media are you compromising the gospel of Jesus Christ?

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doth not, to him it is sin” James 4:17″

God clearly tells us if we know to do good but don’t do it then it is sin. What does this look like on social media? This means posting inappropriate picture, cursing, slander, gossip. I saw one Christian young woman posting pictures of sexual acts and profanity when addressed she told me it wasn’t her words she just reposted what they said. Again even if they are not your own words you should not be reposting it.

Wassom points out 7 principles to watch out for in social media

  1. Think before you post
  2. To your own self be true
  3. Guard your heart
  4. Don’t miss the forest for the trees
  5. Don’t be a stumbling block
  6. Be a peacemaker
  7. Build genuine community

This book was a clear confirmation that God is concerned about every aspect of our lives that includes looking at pictures at 11pm instead of studying your Bible. What are my next steps? To monitor the information that I see.

I recommend this book to youth pastors to share with their youth and for anyone who wants to make sure God is being glorified in every aspect of their lives.
