As I grew up and started to look at racial disparities I saw studies that suggested that Black children who played with White dolls had self-esteem issues, I started to look at the Barbie I played with differently and I vowed that my daughter would only play with African-American dolls. I didn’t want her to have self-esteem issues due to a Barbie Doll. 

But now in 2016, Mattel announced 3 reasons to buy Barbie-Curvy, Petite and Tall as well as different shades, and cute more modest outfits.

In a statement on Nydailynews.com, “they stated the more realistic shapes become available at Barbie.com on Thursday. They were crafted under the top-secret “Project Dawn” initiate over the past two years.

As we know Barbie launched a commercial where a boy was seen playing with a Barbie Doll so I wonder if the next doll on “Project Dawn” will be a boy doll wearing girls clothing only time will tell right?
