I grew up with loving grandparents they taught me about life since my parents died when I was young. My grandfather taught me how to fish, open a savings account, meet and disapprove my first boyfriend, help me buy my first bra, teach me how to gamble (and cheat lol). My grandmother taught me how to love myself. I remember I had a low self-esteem and I came home crying because my legs were skinny my grandmother made me go outside and show me all the people I look better than. She had some health complications with diabetes and acid reflux but as she got even older she went blind in one eye. Being blind doesn’t just affect the person but it affects the person’s family. No longer could she walk by herself or do things on her own it saddened my heart to see her in this condition.
Every year 10 million Americans go blind due to age related Macular Degeneration. There are treatments to stop and in some cases can reverse retinol disease. Now there is a cure. The Foundation Fighting Blindness, a non-profit organization, has provided funding for research for cures on blindness. This research makes it possible for grandparents to enjoy life again.
